Ensembles at Mountain View
Toro Marching Band
The Toro Marching Band is an ensemble which performs extensively at Football Games, Parades, School Assemblies and Competitions. The band also travels nationally and internationally with performances most recently in Orlando, London, New York City (The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade) and Hawaii. The Toro Marching Band is routinely awarded as one of the top 10 band in the state of Arizona in both the ABODA and AZMBA State Championships. Membership requires Camp Attendance and a yearly camp fee.
Wind Ensemble
Wind Ensemble is the premiere wind band at Mountain View High School. Comprised of Advanced musicians, the students in Wind Ensemble regularly audition successfully for Regional and All-State Honors ensembles. Wind Ensemble typically performs 6-10 times a school year and regularly receives superior ratings at ABODA Area and State Concert Festivals. Auditions are required for membership.
Symphonic Winds
As an intermediate ensemble, Symphonic Winds is a great stepping stone to Wind Ensemble. Young musicians learn to advance their technique and musicality while creating meaningful music and performing at ABODA Area Concert Festivals. Participation in Symphonic Winds requires an audition.
Symphonic Band
Symphonic Band is an entry level ensemble where all developing musicians with at least some middle school instrumental band experience are welcome. No audition is required for Symphonic Band. However, anyone who auditions but does not make it into Symphonic Winds and Wind Ensemble will be considered first for principle parts in Symphonic Band.
Screamin Red Jazz Band
As the top Jazz Ensemble at Mountain View High School, Jazz Red has earned a reputation as one of the top high school jazz bands in the state of Arizona. Frequently called upon to perform at special school functions, perform for dignitaries and tour the local elementary and junior highs, Jazz Red typically performs more than any ensemble other than the marching band. Jazz Red frequently receives Superiors and Jazz Festivals in the state and many of its members audition successfully for the All-State Jazz Ensembles.
Jazz Blue
Our entry level jazz band invites musicians who play any instrument to give jazz a try. While we program some traditional tunes and go to jazz festivals, Jazz Blue invites anyone who wants to learn this incredible style of music to join and learn to improvise on their instruments. Jazz Blue meets in the spring semester during A hour and does not require an audition to participate.
